In general the ABC analysis for cycle counting should be based on values from a longer period like consumption values. Based on the stock value is just a momentum and may not reflect the importance of a material for the process.
But you nobody hinders you do maintain the CC indicators base on your own choice.
Do a download from MB52 to Excel, sort it by value descending and assign the A B C and D indicator like SAP is doing it for the consumption based analysis.
Then use MM17 transaction, and do an update of the CC indicators according to your own analysis.
