Re: PO incomplete because valuation type is grayed out in ME22N while material is split valuated

Jürgen & Rudra,

APO doesn't "know" anything about valuation type; conversion actually takes place in ECC.  APO just sends a 'signal' to ECC to convert.  Purchase Reqs and Purchase orders in APO don't carry valuation data; APO is a planning system and there is very little financial info, and no financial postings there. I personally have never seen Valuation type exist anywhere in APO (I will admit that I haven't looked very hard), and the lack has never hindered the business processing.

In general, if you wish to convert PRs automagically to POs from within SCM, then the main requirement is that Master data that exists in ECC must not be ambiguous, and Sourcing data (such as PIRs or PurchSchedAgreements) should be identical in both systems.  I have never had any problem with split valuation, nor have I ever had a problem with the Valuation type field being blank in the APO-initiated STOs.

In systems I have worked on, Valuation Type field is normally editable in ME22N for such STOs.  So, users could optionally populate this field if they wished to assign Valuation type prior to delivery.  Otherwise, Delivery creation (using VL10B) is still possible, even with this field blank in the STO.  The STO delivery only has the valuation type assigned when the Batch is assigned, usually during Goods Issue.

Now, please don't ask me all the details of how MM and IM are set up to achieve this functionality, I always consult a local MM expert when I run into STO problems on the ECC side.

For me, the most common problem I have with delivering an STO is failing the availability check.  This particular error is usually evident in the log.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Best Regards,

DB49
